What a Strange Year it has Been

My writing this year has been off it’s mark. I started a short story set in the distant future, but an idea for a new fantasy book that I called The Dragons of Neverwind stole my attention and I quickly banged out 10,000 words before I realized my plot was seriously lacking. So I rammed my head against the wall and my desk for weeks before deciding I need to shelve it and go on to something I have a better chance of finishing. So yesterday I started Captain Phenom 2, and for the second book I am planning on making it a collection of five or so short stories, each with a beginning and an end. I think the format will work well for Captain Phenom. The first book of 42,000 words laid out how Captain Phenom came to be, and that is fine, but now that all of that is established I can move on and just bang out stories. We’ll see. In two weeks or a month I might be starting Johnny Rockett 4. It’s been an odd year.
