New Job, NaNoWriMo, and Stan Lee

New Job, NaNoWriMo, and Stan Lee

Some of you may already know that I started a job this past Monday, and after seven years of sitting on my butt I am pretty badly out of shape. I am walking what seem to be miles in a day throughout a large machine shop learning their quality control methods. My feet, knees, and hips have really taken a beating this week, and consequently I have only had the energy to write just over 2,000 words for the whole week (I need to do that much a day). Fortunately, I work four 10-hour days, so I am off Friday through Sunday, which will give me some time to heal, regenerate, and hit next week with a renewed spirit (and hopefully FEET).

So because of all this I have fallen behind my daily par of 1,667 words to finish my 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo in time. I am hoping I can make up for it this weekend and get back on par, or even beyond that to give me some cushion for the coming week. But even if I don’t make my goal, Captain Phenom is coming right along. Early beta-reads are coming back with very positive reviews, and I am personally enjoying this story a lot. I hope, when it’s done, others do too.

Lastly, I want to thank and remember Stan Lee for all he did to spark the imaginations of numerous generations of adventure loving kids everywhere. How many writers, artists, designers, or musicians are out in the world now who got their spark of inspiration from the late, great Stan Lee? Rest easy, Stan. You made your mark. It is indelible.
